A lot of speculations have been roaming around in the SEO and link building industry about the big advantage in the use of social bookmarking websites. This is in helping sites rank higher in the SERPs faster and accurately.
True, I have even experienced it myself but everything has changed because Google finally found out how to filter sites that exploit the use of these social bookmarking sites to their own advantage. This is something new from my personal experience and I admit this is a great new learning from me.
Although I cannot enclose more details to confirm this claim, I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of you out there who have experienced it also. If you are wondering why, then, this post is just the answer to your questions.
If you are still willing to try it out yourself, I guess you'll have to find out about it the hard way but I would not encourage, nor advice you to do it if you want to retain the importance and trust the Google is giving your site. This is finally the end to social bookmarking exploits of spammers out there. Social bookmarking exploitation is dead just like how Sphinn junks spammers.

i have use bookmarking before and it's usefull, but right now i do not see any improvement for my new site that use it. Ups...right now i just know the answer from you, thanks alot
It was good using social bookmarks. But then spammer make it screw up. Then google need to tackle it. Now, all of us get disadvantages.

Well, its about time something was done about it,as there are many hard working people out there using "good" techniques, only being scuppered by underhanded ways
Right on, social bookmarking started off as a convenient way of remembering what you wanted to visit again, and sharing those with friends. But it seems like every place you put a link attracts spammers when they see the value.
It's a shame, but it puts the emphasis back on good content.

I haven't really used social bookmarking a whole lot but have been reading up on it. I am just trying to find some good ways to build up links. It's hard work! But I see it as not just building up links but building relationships and networks.

True. The information I've regarding bookmarking links with Social Bookmarking sites is that you just don't have to use it to your own advantage. It does help your PR a lot but you've to bookmark other sites too and don't only use it for your own advantage otherwise you're going to get penalized. Google ofcourse tries to be as fair as they can so their search engine market remains competitive and they don't rank high spammers for their less efforts and rank less who're genuine with their efforts.
