Sphinn Bar Argument: Why I Don't Approve Questioning Quality Over Responsibility
"Sugarrae", a.k.a. Rae Hoffman (according to his/her profile I took a t peek at Sphinn) of MFE Interactive raised an argument regarding raising the bar in Sphinn, that is raising the number of Sphinns that a post needs to be able to land in the home page as a hot post. From the current setting, the suggestion by "sugarrae" is to raise it up to 30.
The suggestion highlighted such reasons why this suggestion. One of which was to prevent unworthy posts from getting in the hot pot in the home page of Sphinn. This way, sugarrae said, Sphinn would have a home page full of quality posts.
Now, my question is, who is who to say that a post is quality or not when honestly speaking, yes, I find a lot of greatly great posts from Sphinn but not all of those in the home page where there is the hot seat is really hot? I guess that leaves us with the same concern.
Here are a few of the arguments raised regarding the suggestion to raise the bar that I would like to have highlighted here which for me are a few good points aside from mine.
Skitzzo raised that there wouldn't be any difference at all because people who can find friends to raise their post to 23 and make it hot will probably find another 7 to help them push an entry to the home page.
"GOOD point here" - for me
Another TonyAdam raised, that he is ok with the 30 mark but his doubt is would that even help the quality of the home page any better?
"Even a better point" - for me
Here's the interesting reply from the SearchEngineLand, Danny Sullivan - "Might be time to take it up, though I'd suggest we go to maybe 25 or 27 first. Incremental to me is often better than dramatic. Also, with it being the holidays, activity tends to go down. We could also kick the weight of comments up. Comments do contribute as to whether something goes hot."
"Now wouldn't that be a better option for you?" I like that.
"My own opinion is that, I think it would be better to leave it at what it is today because I believe that this is just a matter of having friends in the Sphinn arena and to tell you all frankly, including the regulars in Sphinn, I don't care whatever quality the Sphinn home page has as long as I know for myself what is quality for me and only my own purpose. Everybody have their own purpose why they go to Sphinn and what could be a quality post to this person may not be any worthy to another so who's who to say what's quality post and what's not?" Don't tell me that because you have a lot of Sphinns in your post that we can equate that to quality....I strongly disagree on that if that is your point in raising the bar.
People at Sphinn know how to choose what's quality and what's not. We all do... so what's the point in raising the bar? Even if posts get hot and get to sit in the home page for as long as Sphinn is live, the Sphinners decide themselves what's hot and what's not regardless of whether they are friends or not. This is called responsibility.
If I am a Sphinn user or a Sphinn visitor, there is a big difference to a post with a 100 Sphinns that I cannot use and learn from and that which has 5 Sphinns that will do me good and where I can learn from based only on my own judgement. We all have different levels of interpretation, as well as needs when we speak of posts in Sphinn and there is nothing wrong with networking within Sphinn community either because that is the very essence of joining there as a search engine marketing community of adult, mature, responsible people who know how to know what works for them and what does not.
Let them all Sphinn as friends and let the others choose what they know will give them something useful in the end. No point in raising Sphinns needed to be on the home page because even if you all Sphinn up as friends a single post that I or others don't want or need, to me or the others, it would still be rendered useless. Don't worry, I am a responsible Sphinner and I am not one of those who Sphinn because this or that person is my friend or fee is some authority in the web. I don't even like all of the regular's posts there and best of all, I am responsible.
If you like this post, Sphinn it here.
I'd like to say sorry to "sugarrae" for missing on the picture in the profile (I hope you forgive me). My mistake is unforgivable there and thanks to ms. Jill for correcting me on that.

When SEOs Fall, They Fall Hard - An SEO Worker's Story
Friends are friends and we can always be friends with our friends, but when business come, friendship breaks. Why? I really couldn't answer myself until it came a point where I am the one. Business partnership proved that when business is at stake, we should first forget that our partners are our friends. WE don't have to compromise our friendship and we must be clear from the start.
I have always valued friendship until a friend, a co-worker in the amusement stole my ideas, my project, me and my future to be given the recognition on that project. I was no SEO that time, I am just me, the amusement worker who taught a friend I thought was all the way a friend but a fox. I didn't pity myself, I stood up! I know where I stand and I know my place. I didn't argue, I took the slap but he is still my friend because we are friends.
I understand that there are a few people, when you start to feed them up not with food but knowledge and power only you once had, they change. They change from becoming a friend into competition. Still I did not regret sharing what I had... Until the slap came. A partnership, a business partnership with business we mean 50/50 right? And it was the agreement until the agreement sounded different. You become the employee that partner dictates what to do or work out today and the next day.
Indeed I am not an SEO yet that day but I understood and still gave but when I felt this partner want's top eat me alive, that's when I started shouting...ENOUGH!!! ENOUGH!!! I am a human with dignity not just in friendship but also in partnership and with my words. I value what I say. I make mistakes but I will make it up because I know.
No I am not an SEO I am just your worker and you can dictate me anything you want even if costs me deprivation to have that chance to learn, to interact as a person or an SEO. I will not be denied this time. I am an SEO and you are my friend and my partner but you can't make me do what you want with me I still have my own life don't I? Well, there are a few people who feel they have the world in their hands but no. you might feel that way but you won't have me.

Who is this Not Stupid SEO?
Over time, there has been so many stories told about semantics but like the wonderful world of SEO, there is still no definite answer to questions, just presumptions and estimates. I remember this guy, an SEO expert, self declared of course telling people and bragging about a link builder who made a mistake on her grammar. This guy, the self declared not stupid SEO???, had a title on his blog that says, "Another stupid SEO strategy: the filipino link builder who can't write". (Sorry for copy pasting this title from the Google results...I just can't help it.)
Now if I were to analyze the title of this cool dude, it was he who seem not so good in his letters and feeling like an authority SEO who wrote his TITLE wrong. Does this guy know that "filipino" just like the rest of his starting letters in the title should be capitalized....STUPID should also be,,, right? Who's stupid here...does this guy even know when to write a title in CAPITAL first letter? THINK ABOUT THAT!!! Whos's is this guy to say who is stupid in SEO and who is not? Now who could this guy be? Can you make a guess? A stupid guess?
Well, I just got semantics out of my words here and I'll leave it all up to you to see through that. Anyway, this guy did an apology post (thank you for that, you glorified out justice). Now, everybody will read about it when they search for the keyphrase "link builders Philippines". Congratulations!!!!, you beat a lot of us here in the Philippines on that keyphrase.

SEO Sh** Trivia and Challenge to an Unprofessional and Moron Commenter from ...
Who doesn't know about the Mr. SEO Philippines? He's probably one of the guys that everyone want's to be with or at least pretend to know so much of. He is also responsible for all the biggest SEO contests in the Philippines and he is also a target of those other bad people in the internet business who would do things to ruin his reputation. I am very sorry revealing this in this blog but this has to stop here. I am not trying to go against those that come from the place which I will mention here for the purpose of information and to avoid misinformation. We only want to tell of what we found out, nothing more, nothing less.
The guy is a good man except for a few occasional faults in the previous social life we've been which we all have by the way. To start of with, I want to tell it straight, there is someone who is very naive to be a moron using an IP to comment in one of my friend's blogs commenting and telling words that are more unprofessional than what a webmaster should be doing, spamming Digg and other social bookmarking sites out there.
This guy/girl, I would like to tell in this blog based on the IP address tracking that we made came from Bacolod. Whoever you are, I am telling you that if you are out to find something, then you will find what you want and if you would like to ruin your company using their computer and making these rude comments, it's up to you. WE WILL PIN YOU DOWN AND WHEN WE DO IT WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU WILL PAY! YOU AND WHOEVER IS WITH YOU BEHIND ALL THIS ! We tracked this from an IP address that fell on the place (SEE THE SCREENSHOT BELOW AND CLICK TO ENLARGE). Whoever you are, you are making a big mistake trying to use the name of SEO Philippines founder in making your rude comment." My friend e-mailed the SEOPH founder personally and he responded with the nicest words that it is not him and thanking my friend for informing him. I guess he is out of the country and very busy to try to comment on a not-so-well-known blog. "We believe he is not like that so stop using his name." Whoever you are, what you did is a serious PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL offense and it has to stop with the help of other people from SEO Philippines. May this serve as a call for others to BEWARE OF THIS FALSE BOGUS COMMENTS that could possibly hit you.
We have everything on record "Author : Su**er (IP: 122.55.237.33 , 122.55.237.33.pldt.net) E-mail : info@www.m******.com URI : http://www.m******.com Whois : http://ws.arin.net/cgi-bin/whois.pl?queryinput=122.55.237.33 Comment: Your website su***, YOU S*** Cheers Marc M******
What now???? YOU WAIT....
Sorry for those who might be hurt by this one, but you all can help us trace this so this stops right here and right now. Trying to ruin other people's reputation (moreso of the founder of SEOPh) which they have built for so many years is not worth it.Here's the screenshot of the place where the comment came upon inquiry on IP source: "CLICK THE PICTURE TO ENLARGE" this is a call so help us stop this by spreading this and letting the culprits know that Marc is not alone.

Lick A** SEO Trivia - The B*** Truth
We all want to be in sometimes and forgive me if I am one of them once in ever comment that I leave in blogs ( BTW, I always leave a comment in about 20 blogs a day). This gal/guy is really hot all the time and he has been all around us trying to lure us to something for a prize money.

I am not making anything out of this at all. It's just that I am sick an tired of people trying to be nice to big shot no no's out there. We're all the same and we all eat at Jollibee, my god!
So this gal/guy is out for a recent something and she/he got even more popular with that link bait doing some bad to fellow SEO here in the Philippines by bulk. I mean I have spammed so many time so what! But this person has has people in the SEO arena wait for nothing while enjoying the bar out there in somewhere I don't know of....(this came from an unknown source)
Anyway, I don't care at all who this person is. I'm sick and tired of paying good for people who are good ( indeed) but have done the biggest mistake in his life. I mean, we all deserve some negative points in our card sometimes and we cannot escape from that. A sorry is enough and what's done is done but just to put up on it, I didn't like what that person said to me in the forum at all.
The person deserves what I said about the truth and that is the truth so no one can change what the truth says. Guess who?
